What is the Rhinoceros Theater Festival?
Each year, Curious Theatre Branch curates and produces the Rhino Fest, a storefront theater festival providing production and exhibition opportunities to hundreds of artists, drawing thousands in attendance each year. The longest-running fringe festival in Chicago, the Rhino features works in theater and performance from a variety of new and established artists — primarily from Chicago companies, with occasional visits from traveling artists.
First organized in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago, Rhino Fest is unique among national fringe festivals in that artists are never charged a fee to participate, and each year our programs are individually curated rather than selected on a lottery basis.
Some venues that have previously hosted the Rhino are Facility, Chicago Dramatists, Labyrinth Arts Club, Perceptions Theater, Experimental Sound Studio, Women and Children First Bookstore, Prop Thtr, and many more.
